Meet OpenStreetMap US member Valerie Anderson. Valerie is the Director of Communications & Programming for the Florida Native Plant Society. She is a science communicator who also conducts fieldwork including rare plant surveys, prescribed burning, plant rescues, and restoration plantings. Valerie was first introduced to OpenStreetMap while writing her Master's thesis. Valerie says:
"I was checking a lot of Linux and programmer news and using QGIS for my M.S. that's where I first heard of OSM. I made my first edit to an AirBnB on a vacation to southwest Florida. I contribute because one day soon I would like to use an OSM-based router on my phone and right now that isn't possible."
