This month we celebrate the adoption of a new Code of Conduct (CoC) for all OSM US spaces. Thank you to the CoC Committee volunteers for their hard work to make this a reality. To quote Committee Chair Emily Eros, "We hope that clarifying our community values and expectations will help to ensure that everyone can feel safe, respected, and welcome within OSM US."

The revised CoC is a milestone, but it is only the first of many steps to foster an equitable & inclusive mapping community. Our recent survey results make it clear that we are not yet the diverse community that we aspire to, and that it is time for us all to deepen our commitment to greater representation within our community and on the map.

There is work to be done and questions we can begin to answer.  What are our barriers to inclusion? What opportunities are there to better support civic and social justice organizations? As conversations around race and equity are re-energized, how will our community respond and look toward the future? Positive intent is not enough.  I invite you to join the conversation, share ideas, and let us know what you're working on in this area.

OpenStreetMap US  Code of Conduct Adopted

We invite you to join us in celebrating the adoption of a new Code of Conduct and Process for Moderation for all OpenStreetMap US led spaces. The Code of Conduct Committee worked tirelessly over the last 6 months to revise the OSM US Code of Conduct and develop a process for moderating complaints. Thank you to the Committee, and all of those who reviewed the document or provided feedback. Learn more in this blog post from Committee Chair Emily Eros.

State of the Map US Postponed

In light of the continued uncertainty related to COVID-19 & with the safety of our community in mind, the SOTMUS Organizing Committee has decided to postpone the 10th Anniversary State of the Map US conference. The conference will be held when safely possible in Tucson in 2021.
