Announcing our first Organizational Community Member
We are pleased to welcome our first community organizational member: Illinois Kendall County Department of GIS. Learn more about Kendall County in this blog post.
Community-level organizational membership is a new option for OpenStreetMap US membership. Joining OSM US as an organizational member is a meaningful way to give back to the community.
Project Spotlight: Public Domain Map & NC Emergency Management
In our second Public Domain Map pilot, OpenStreetMap US is partnering with North Carolina Emergency Management to refresh building footprints in Cumberland County. Mappers are invited to help improve public safety by contributing directly to the government data creation process by updating buildings that support FIMAN, or the Flood Inundation Mapping and Alert Network, an online resource for flood awareness and forecasting in NC. In a future phase of the pilot, the data will also be made available for use in OpenStreetMap.
