Trails Working Group Update

The OpenStreetMap US Trails Working Group is excited to launch a pilot tagging project! The Trails Working Group is an ever-growing collaboration of OSM mappers, land managers, and navigational app developers improving the data behind public trails in the US to enhance safety for visitors and protect the environment.

Nowhere Podcast

OSM US Executive Director, Maggie Cawley, was recently a guest on the Nowhere Podcast to discuss the evolution of the Trails Working Group in response to increasing visitation levels and a growing geospatial problem.

Nearly 80 percent of children from low-income families have little or no swimming ability. Rising Tide Effect is working to change this and make access to swimming more equitable.

Join OpenStreetMap US in supporting their efforts by mapping swimming pools in New York City.

Sustainable Transportation

This month, we’re mapping Sustainable Transportation for 12 Months of OSM.

Get involved: Education Working Group

Are you looking for a new way to volunteer your talents? Consider joining the OSM US Education Working Group. Whether you’re a mapper, community organizer, or educator, there are numerous ways you can make solid contributions to the Education Working Group, such as:

• Mentoring a teacher or a school

• Create content such as how-tos or instructional videos for using your favorite OpenStreetMap tools

• If you’re an educator or used OSM in a classroom setting, share your case study

• If you’re a developer or engineer, you can apply your skills to help maintain our website or develop tools for teachers to more easily integrate OSM into their curriculum schools
