Congratulations, Steven Johnson!

Join the OpenStreetMap US team in celebrating Steven Johnson, recipient of the GeoTech Center GeoEd2021 Lifetime Achievement Award. Steven is a key organizer for TeachOSM, supporting the adoption of OpenStreetMap for teaching geography through open mapping, adjunct professor at George Washington University's Geography Department, and essential OSM US volunteer. 

Government Panel at Upcoming State of the Map 2021

Are you interested in learning how OSM is being used by governments around the world? On Friday, July 9th at 4 pm EDT, join members of the Local Chapters & Communities Working Group from OSM United States, OSM United Kingdom, OSM Belgium, OSM Switzerland, OSM Philippines, OSM India, and OSM Italy as they discuss collaborations with their local state and federal governments. Speakers will share lessons learned, ideas for how governments can better integrate with OSM, and success stories from around the globe.

June is Disaster Response & Resiliency Month 

June is the official start of the Atlantic Hurricane season and in many parts of the country it is the time of year when wildfires begin to rage here in the US. In light of this, OpenStreetMap US is highlighting the importance of OpenStreetMap for disaster response and resiliency as part of the #12MonthsofOSM.  

OSM US Mappy Hour

OSM US hosts regular Mappy Hours featuring a variety of topics and guest speakers. For June's 12 Months of OSM theme of disaster response and resilience, Nicole Martinelli of Resiliency Maps and Russel Deffner from Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team led last week's conversation.
