Last week, Google Maps for iOS was re-released by Google, after being ditched from Apple’s phones and pads in favor of their own Maps application. Marketplace Tech Report, the short daily NPR radio program on new developments in technology, decided to dig beneath the surface and find out why this is such a big deal.
What they find is that ‘the map battles are not over’ – there is another player who is making an ever stronger appearance on this ‘battlefield’: OpenStreetMap. Head over to their web site for the transcript and tune in to the four minute show in which OpenStreetMap founder Steve Coast makes an appearance as well.
