OpenStreetMap US

Calling all OpenStreetMappers - TeachOSM needs your help!

Haven’t heard of TeachOSM? Chartered in 2016, it is a project of OpenStreetMap US that provides operational support and strategic guidance for the educational outreach mission of the organization. The website was established in 2014 as a place to direct teachers and to hold the project’s intellectual capital. As the project has grown, these vital resources are at risk of becoming out-of-date and need to be consolidated.

We need your help to spread the word that an RFP has been released for a TeachOSM Website Redesign. We are looking for an energetic and creative contractor to submit a proposal on or before October 1st, 2018!

Over the past 2 years, TeachOSM proponents have trained over 150 educators and geographic education groups, volunteered in diverse communities all over the world, and created curricula directly tying into existing United States coursework. TeachOSM has learned and continues to see the need for training educators, and thereby students, in technology-based geography tools linked to OpenStreetMap.

Want to learn more? Reach out - we’d love to hear from you. Members of the TeachOSM steering committee will also be at State of the Map US - come and say hello! If you are interested in building a site that will help TeachOSM support the next generation of geographers, kindly respond to the RFP by October 1st.

Thank you! OpenStreetMap US Board & the TeachOSM Steering Committee (Steven Johnson, Shawn Goulet, Maggie Cawley, Nuala Cowen, Richard Hinton, Mikel Maron)
