The presentation is about the key OSM tags needed for a well-functioning automotive navigation. A comparative study was carried out during the implementation of OSM at NNG, examining the current functionality of OSM tags in NNG’s OSM+ navigation in iGO software, versus OSM-backed Mapbox and OSMAND, the popular offline OSM-based map. Besides navigation related tags, we would like to raise the importance of further key layers, such as addressing functionalities or POI handling. With a Hungarian field case study, we will demonstrate, how the current state of these tags can affect the navigation by either software solutions. Our goal is to promote the editing of these OSM tags in the community.
