OpenStreetMap US

SDSN SDGs Today’s initiative, My School Today uses OpenStreetMap map data to share population counts within various travel times from recorded educational facilities in pursuit of SDG 4.

My School Today was created to support GIS capacity building in regions across Africa through the dissemination of GIS training lessons and the encouragement of crowdsourced school location data. This project features GIS training lessons in the form of ArcGIS StoryMaps as well as a dashboard that provides the school location dataset as it appears in OpenStreetMap (OSM) and our walking time to schools dataset. This work has been carried out in collaboration with over 18 different education institutions, advocacy groups, and technical organizations.
