OpenStreetMap US

This workshop presents the Sketch Map Tool, an instrument to extend the family of participatory mapping methods. Paper based maps are created with OpenStreetMap for offline mapping which can be digitized and referenced back to OSM. But also to go beyond and capture intangible local knowledge. Innovative is an automated quality check of the area to be mapped: Are there enough objects present for the users to navigate themselves?

The Sketch Map Tool automatically recognizes scanned sketches accelerating the digitization process and allows user friendly exports in common formats.

Join us for an introduction, a hands-on demo and discussions about frontiers and potentials.
