State of the Map US is the largest gathering of OpenStreetMap community members from across the country, this year in Madison, Wisconsin. Come connect with mappers, businesses, academics, government agenices, and nonprofits, all collaborating around the free and editable map of the world.

Whether you’re brand new to open mapping or you’re an OpenStreetMap veteran, this conference is for you. It’s the best party in mapping!

  • November 20, 2025: Call for sponsorships opens
  • December 1, 2025: Early bird registration opens
  • December 15, 2025: Call for proposals opens
  • January 5, 2026: Fellowship application opens
  • February 1, 2026: Standard registration opens. Visa Letter of Invitation request deadline.
  • May 1, 2026: Late bird registration opens
  • May 22, 2026: Conference rates end for booking the Madison Concourse Hotel
  • June 11-13, 2026: State of the Map US!

Full-time students, educators, and nonprofit staff can register at a discounted rate.

Attendees requiring a visa to enter the United States may request a Visa Letter of Invitation from the conference team. The deadline to request a visa letter is February 1, 2026, though we strongly recommend starting the visa request process as early as possible.
