State of the Map US celebrates its tenth anniversary in only a few short weeks! We have a fantastic lineup of speakers and sessions and we could not be more excited to welcome you to the first in-person State of the Map since 2019! If you haven’t registered yet, it is not too late. Tickets are $220 for individuals, $65 for students and academics, and $450 if you attend on behalf of a company or organization.
Of course you are coming to learn about everything that’s happening in the world of OpenStreetMap, but a great conference is about much more than that! To give you a taste of what we have prepared for you, and help you make the most of your stay, we have compiled this post to raise your level of excitement for SOTM US 2022 even more and help you make the most out of the event!
Social Events
SOTM US has a reputation to uphold for hosting great social events, and we plan to do just that! We have events planned for Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and they’re all included in your ticket price.
We will kick the 10th anniversary SOTM US off with a welcome events at CATalyst Studios, a cool maker space right on the University of Arizona campus, where the main conference is also held. Join us for an OpenStreetMap US Open House starting at 3pm, a tour of the CATalyst space, and a Welcome Social starting at 5pm. We hope you plan to be in Tucson on Thursday to join us! And a big THANK YOU to our hosts UA Libraries!
On Friday, after a full day of sessions at the Student Union, we will all get togtether at the Whistle Stop Depot, an iconic renovated warehouse in the historic downtown Dunbar Spring Neighborhood, to catch up with old map friends and make new ones! Drinks and food will of course be provided.
On Saturday, we ring out the formal part of SOTM US with a party at Borderlands Brewing, one of Tucson’s best breweries housed in a beautiful historic building with a patio to enjoy the lovely Southern Arizona evenings. You won’t leave hungry or thirsty!
Aside from these main events, there will be plenty of opportunity to socialize during the breaks in the program. Grab a coffee or tea and hit the spacious Grand Ballroom, where you can visit our sponsor booths or catch up with your fellow SOTM US attendees!
Enjoy the City
You should consider tacking a couple of days on to your stay in Tucson to enjoy everything the city and its surroundings have to offer! Tucson is known for its amazing authentic Mexican food, and was named an UNESCO City of Gastronomy! The area also offers some of the best outdoor recreation opportunities anywhere, so if you enjoy hiking, biking, or even rock climbing, you will find plenty to do! For lovers of arts and culture, there is the Tucson Folk Festival and numerous museums and attractions worth checking out. We promise you won’t be bored!
