Free vector tiles and related resources needed to create interactive maps

The Tileservice makes it easy for developers in the OSM community to create novel maps using OpenStreetMap data, overcoming some of the technical barriers that are typically associated with developing web maps.

The OpenStreetMap US Tileservice is a free web service which provides vector map tiles and related resources to help people create maps that use OpenStreetMap data.

The Tileservice already provides tiles for OpenStreetMap US-supported projects, including Americana, OpenTrailMap, OSMCha and SliceOSM. By making the Tileservice available to the public, we hope to help developers in the OSM community overcome the technical barriers to creating new maps and applications based on OSM data.

The Tileservice provides:

  • Vector tilesets derived from OpenStreetMap data in several schemas, suitable for making interactive maps
  • Raster tilesets for hillshading and other specialized purposes
  • Fonts suitable for use with MapLibre and compatible renderers

Documentation, including a list of available tilesets and demo maps of each, are available at tiles.openstreetmap.us.

The service is free for low volume non-commercial use. Commercial applications and higher usage volumes can apply for partnership through our application process. All users need to provide proper attribution to OpenStreetMap, OpenStreetMap US, and relevant data sources. Our complete usage policy covers technical requirements and terms of service.
