Since 2019, the YouthMappers Validation Hub, staffed by experienced student mappers, has provided OSM data quality support to the YouthMappers network. In this session, we share an overview of the Hub’s activities and statistics that demonstrate the impact of the Hub’s project validation and training efforts. We introduce a pilot “project mentor” initiative undertaken in collaboration with the USAID GeoCenter that has matched Hub mappers with global YouthMappers chapters that are conducting remote mapping projects on the Tasking Managers. In this innovative approach to project management, experienced mappers provide peer-to-peer mentorship on data quality throughout the mapping process rather than just during the final validation stage.
