In order to realize their full potential in a variety of fields, including planning, infrastructure management, community involvement, emergency response, economic development, and many others, local governments can use data from OpenStreetMap in a variety of ways.

With the help of free and open-source software, town agents will be able to search and explore details about diverse properties throughout four cities in Uganda thanks to a GIS-based digital property tax database that OpenStreetMap Uganda is developing. OpenStreetMap data may be used by Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to provide powerful mapping and analytical capabilities.
