Four workshops will be offered on Friday, June 7, the day before the State of the Map US conference kicks off in San Francisco. These workshops are designed to provide hands on training in OpenStreetMap and web mapping and data visualization techniques.
Two workshops are targeted to people new to OpenStreetMap, introducing the open data set, walking through how to edit and use the map, and diving into how to make custom maps with OpenStreetMap data. The second set of workshops is targeted to more advanced users with a hands on session on cartography and data visualization techniques, and one on contributing to OpenStreetMap and walking through the infrastructure powering openstreetmap.org. - Introduction to OpenStreetMap: Editing and Using the Map , Beginner’s level, 9am – noon.
- Making Your Own Maps with OpenStreetMap , Beginner’s level, 1:30 – 4:30 pm
- Making Beautiful Maps with OpenStreetMap , Intermediate to advanced level, 9am – noon.
- Contributing to OpenStreetMap , Intermediate to advanced level, 1:30 – 4:30 pm
Space in these workshops is very limited, with 24 spots available per session. Each workshop is three hours long and costs $25 (with a $10 discount to anyone who signs up for two sessions, provided via the confirmation email.) Workshops will take place either in the morning or afternoon on Friday, June 7 at the Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco, with a break for lunch between sessions (not included).
