OpenStreetMap US

State of the Map US kicks off in just two days in San Francisco. The conference will bring 375+ people together to talk about OpenStreetMap, coming from all over the United States as well as South America and Europe. This will be the largest OpenStreetMap event to date, edging out last year’s US conference in Portland (225 attendees).

The conference kicks off with a series of hands on workshops designed to give people new to OpenStreetMap a primer before the weekend, and a more advanced users a deeper dive into mapping and hosting OpenStreetMap data. Three workshops are sold out, but there is still space in the Contributing to OpenStreetMap session. You can register for workshops over on our event page.

Saturday marks the start of the main conference, where 50+ sessions on topics like editors, vectors, traffic, and the future of OSM will take place over the weekend. For those who cannot attend, all sessions will be live streamed on Saturday and Sunday at stateofthemap.us and recordings will be made available on the site next week. There will also be Birds of a Feather sessions, organized at the event unconference style, for anyone who’d like to lead a session or bring more people into a conversation. Look for the whiteboard to put a BoF on the schedule and see what others will be talking about.

Monday and Tuesday will be our sprint days, where people will work together on specific projects around improving OpenStreetMap, its infrastructure, its documentation, as well as other related projects. RSVP to attend the sprint days, and mark what project you’d like to work on.

Watch openstreetmap.us throughout the conference for session videos and photos from San Francisco, and follow @sotmus and #sotmus for the latest from State of the Map US.
