OpenStreetMap US

This year, OSM US is committed to significantly increasing the number of active mappers. We believe that one of the ways to do that is through strong local and regional communities.

There are already thriving local OSM communities in many areas in the US. But they all operate mostly independently. They can learn a lot from each other. That is why we want to start an informal Local Communities Working Group for OpenStreetMap the U.S.

What would we do?

That will be up to everyone who wants to take part. Plan and organize nationwide Mapathon events? Onboarding new local organizers? Regional OSM (un)conferences?

Our goal is to have a space for (aspiring) local community organizers to share ideas and experiences. We will organize a call early in the new year with anyone interested in helping getting this off the ground. Email the board at board@openstreetmap.us or tweet at us!
