Mapathons! The casual get-togethers of local OpenStreetMap mappers improving the map together have become somewhat of a OSM US tradition. One that we hope to continue in 2016! We are kicking off next month with the International Women’s Day Mapathon, and we would love for all of you to participate. If you are not near Washington DC, why not organize your own Mapathon that weekend? If you want to adopt the Women’s Day theme, that is great. But feel free to tailor the event to what you want it to be. The most important thing is to get folks mapping together!

Here is the full Mapathon calendar for 2016:

  • Winter: March 5-6
  • Spring: May 14-15
  • Summer: 9-10
  • Fall: November 5-6

If you want to organize a Mapathon but need help, please get in touch with us at board@openstreetmap.us or on twitter at @osmus. If you already have something in the works for March, please update the wiki page over on osm.org.

We hope to see you at one of the 2016 Mapathons. Happy mapping!
