The annual State of the Map US conference is meant to build community and develop connections across boundaries. Increasing participation starts with improving accessibility, and that is why this year we are working hard to increase our scholarship offerings and decrease participation costs for all of those are interested in attending. So if you are interested in joining the OpenStreetMap community in Boulder from October 19th to 22nd - keep reading!

Apply for a Scholarship

If you are contributing to the OpenStreetMap community and financial help will make the difference whether or not you can come to State of the Map US, apply for a scholarship! Whether by organizing meetups, making maps, adding data, writing code or documentation, or something else, we’re interested in hearing your story. No matter where you live, what your interests, or how long you have been involved: we welcome your application!

What type of scholarships are we offering?

Scholarship recipients will receive (1) a complimentary ticket to State of the Map US, (2) up to three nights of accomodation at a nearby hotel, and (3) have up to $500 in travel expenses reimbursed.

Who is Eligible?

The travel grants are available to anyone, but their purpose is to help those attend who would not have otherwise been able to. We encourage and welcome diversity in the OpenStreetMap community. We don’t want a single person to miss out on this exciting event. It takes millions of edits to make OpenStreetMap a resource for us all, but it only takes you to make our community unique and special. Please consider joining us! Be sure to apply by July 21st, 2017.

Applicants will be notified of their status by mid-August, 2017.

State of the Map US

The annual State of the Map US conference is the largest gathering of OpenStreetMap community members from across the country. Come meet the people who create, analyze, and use OpenStreetMap with several days of talks, workshops, and social events. It’s the best party in mapping.

The 7th State of the Map US conference took place in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains at the University of Colorado Boulder.
