OpenStreetMap US

OpenStreetMap US is conducting a survey and we want to hear from you! Do you have ideas for programs? Ways to better support & grow our community? We can’t wait to learn more, so please participate today!

Your answers will not only provide a baseline from which to measure our growth, but your input will help to shape the future of OpenStreetMap US. The survey asks about how and where you map, and how OpenStreetMap US can better support your local mapping community in turn.

Did you know that the number of mappers active each week in North America has increased from an average of 1,500 in 2016 to over 2,000 in 2019? When the OpenStreetMap US community census was conducted in 2016, organizers collected respondents from over 200 mappers who had collectively edited 2.9M kilometers of highways and 3M buildings. With so much growth since then, we’re eager to better quantify our community’s activity and dive even deeper this time around

The Survey will remain open until December 31, 2019. Please share and encourage others to participate! If you have any questions or comments, please email us at team@openstreetmap.us.

In early 2020, OpenStreetMap US will release aggregated survey results, findings, and insights back to the community through the mailing list, blogs, and other standard OpenStreetMap US communication channels. The survey is intended for OpenStreetMap community within the United States, but should we get responses from mappers in other countries we’ll happily share the results.

Take the survey now! Thank you for your time!
