With the safety of our community in mind, the committee has decided to postpone the 10th Anniversary State of the Map US. After 4+ long months, COVID-19 continues to transform our lives. At the end of May, the State of the Map US Planning Committee shared an update with our considerations for waiting to make a decision for our November conference. At the time, we were optimistic that we would see national leadership and a way forward emerge, and that we could plan to safely gather at the end of the year. Unfortunately, uncertainty persists and the path forward is not yet clear.
The conference will still be held in Tucson, Arizona, hosted by the University of Arizona. The Committee is currently exploring the possibility of holding a hybrid conference in 2021 with a live track and a virtual track, so that those who cannot attend in person are still able to participate, share their talks, and socialize with those in Tucson.
OpenStreetMap US is exploring the creation of new, virtual events to bring our community together. In the meantime, join one of our many Mappy Hours or find a local event near you!
Stay tuned for more announcements about the 10th Anniversary State of the Map US!
